Dental Examinations

Dental exams are an important step in early detection and treatment of gum disease and tooth decay. Tooth decay can, if left untreated, cause the total loss of a tooth within a year. For this reason it is important to a have dental examination every 6 months or at a maximum once per year.

During a dental examination, a dentist will perform some of the
following based on each individual case:

• Review of patients’ medical history;
• X-Rays of teeth that show sign of decay or wear;
• Evaluation of gum for sign of periodontal disease;
• Evaluation of wisdom teeth;
• Examination of all teeth, crowns and fillings;
• Oral cancer screening;
• TMJ evaluation;
• Oral Hygiene Instructions
• Discussion of treatment plans
